Mohamed Bourouissa - Photography Boca de Fuma
€480
Mohamed Bourouissa has published 5 photographs in exclusivity with Homaar that mark the beginning of his research for this series that made him known. In 2009, during a residency in Rio de Janeiro, the artist surrounded himself with acquaintances and friends to depict daily life in the marvellous city in the form of history paintings, genre scenes or landscapes.
Boca de fuma represents an urban landscape where the gaze comes up against a flag, a black screen. In the favelas, the "Bocas de Fuma", literally the mouths that smoke, are the districts where all kinds of trafficking are negotiated and when a trafficker dies, a flag is erected in his honour. This rectangle, the main subject of the composition, not unlike Malevich, links the history of painting to the question of territory.
